My name is Giancarlo Avancini but my friends call me Jankie, born in Milan, Italy already over 40 years ago. I arrive in Bali in 1997 where I met my lovely wife "Yoska" and build my home. I have a great son "Gianluca", my hope for the future.....

About me...
I felt in love with windsurfing when I was a kid in holiday with my parents.
In 1988 I started to work as windsurfing instructor in resorts around the world. After few years I become a travel agent for a major Italian tour operator where I worked for almost 10 years until the Bali bombing!
This terrible episode brought terrible consequences for the local economy and for the tourism industry, forcing me to look for another job.
I spent all the 2004 and part of 2005 in Los Angeles, California, selling furniture for a Balinese company.
Since then I’m back in Bali doing what I love more!!
Spend as much time as possible in the water and with my family…

My sport history..
As a side business in 1999 I opened together with some friend the Blue Oasis Beach Club, the first integrated watersport center in Indonesia, we were the only windsurfing school in Bali back then…
That year my partner saw in a French magazine the first Wipika kite and we didn’t resist and got one for ourselves.  
By 2001 we started to teach Kitesurfing in our club.
In 2003 we organized a Kite competition called “Bali Kitesurfing Madness”, and just after that we host an IKO instructor course were I got my certification.
Just before leaving for the States I sold my shares in the company.
 

After coming back  in the end of 2005 together with my wife we decide to open our own Kitesurfing School.

December 2007 the first SUP school in Bali is Born together with our new store in Sanur called “Kite & Surf Bali, the Pro Shop" the only Kitesurfing store in all of Indonesia.

July 2008 was time for a new change... I decide that was time to give back to the local community and that is what I did.

I gave our school to the local Balinese Kitesurfing Team...

Now Bali Kitesurfing School is fully owned and managed by local Balinese kiters.

January 2009, We are proud to announce our latest business venture in Bali.

Is call "Warung Sale e Pepe" is an Italian Restaurant with casual all day eating. Located just in front of "Kite & Surf Bali"

Great food "Real Italian Home Cooking" at great prices.

Some people is already saying that is the best restaurant in town!
